Short & Stout Mug 2
Proof that good mugs don’t need to be tall.
This over-sized, wheel-thrown mug is made to keep your day moving at a pace just right for you. A dependable all-day mug, with a simple form and balanced feel.
Clean lines and subtle markings in the hand-formed handle, paired with a beveled foot, complete the minimalist look and feel. Like the beverages it holds, this piece is robust and may require two hands to operate. Please drink responsibly.
Keeps pace with slow sips and full pours.
Unlike most of my designs, the focus here shifts to the glaze rather than the natural clay body. This mug showcases a Tin Cup shino glaze that breaks over the throwing lines of the piece, revealing varying tones of charcoal, tin, and rust.
Each Sunyata piece carries a small hand-carved maker’s mark at the base—a quiet signature from the hands that made it.
Ceramics is an intimate craft. Each piece is made entirely by hand, carrying time, energy, and attention to detail. While the same care goes into every piece, no two turn out exactly alike—the subtle variations in form and finish are what give each one its character and purpose.
Specs:
Height – 3.5"
Width – 4.5"
Capacity – 16+ oz
Materials:
Every mug at Sunyata is made from gray stoneware clay with fine black speckling. All glazes used are food-safe and non-toxic—a standard held across the studio.
Additional Notes:
With regular use, mug interiors may develop slight discoloration depending on what they hold. This is a natural characteristic of the material and a quiet reflection of what its' held over time.
